Mission Statement

The mission of Peace Care is to cultivate grass roots global health solutions by creating enduring links between communities of need and entities of resource.

These collaborations work to:

  • Reduce the global burden of disease
  • Increase the number and quality of health care workers worldwide
  • Strengthen primary health care systems in low-income countries
  • Promote and increase global health research
  • Foster global health education

Vision

Peace Care's vision is of a world with health equity.  This equity will come through Peace Care reshaping how the resource-rich minority interfaces with the resource-poor majority.  This interface will be grass-roots, accessible and sustainable.  It will empower and inspire communities as well as healthcare and development agencies worldwide to meet their needs and accomplish their goals.  The result of this collaboration will be a better trained and more accessible health care workforce in all parts of the world.

Core Values

Community - Peace Care acts by way of the community.  A world is made smaller through collaboration; a world is made obtainable through opportunity; and, thus, an exceptional world, a world of a difference, is one that is ultimately a single community.  Through a sense of social responsibility, an ethic of beneficence, and the actions of collective effort, we affirm that the hope of peace lies within the care of the community.

Collaboration - Peace Care believes that it can provide a structure for true collaboration between institutions and communities.  In doing this Peace Care helps break down barriers to the synergy that will create innovative and transformative solutions to a more equitable and just world.

Commitment - Peace Care believes that inherent in commitment are trust and sustainability.  Through Peace Care projects all partners involved will be committed to sustainable change that is created at the grass roots level.

Health - Peace Care is committed to having a positive impact on global health disparities.  This includes not only physical health, but the social, mental and emotional health of the communities where Peace Care works and with all collaborators.

Education - Peace Care is dedicated to promoting the transference of skills and knowledge between communities, local health systems and health care and development organizations worldwide.  This education is bi-directional, fostering evidence based global health and a greater understanding of global health disparities.

Empowerment - Peace Care seeks to empower development organizations, Peace Corps volunteers and communities to be a part of the change that they envision.
